Nik Badminton (@futurist.com) reached out to collaborate on a mission video outlining the challenges humanity is facing in an honest and optimistic way.
The script calls attention to the failing industrial complex, corporate greed, and the distraction of luxury, convenience and media noise. Although dark in it’s opening moments, the story is optimistic, driving home that we will break through the noise and make way for transformation through activism, equity, and ingenuity.
We wanted to express a deep overlap between humanity, the collective consciousness, and the imposition of unsustainable practices. Consequently, our visual narrative suggests this by metaphorically bonding this inescapable weight to our character's consciousness and visually extending this imposition through the back of their heads. The themes are reinforced by a double-exposure technique and overlaying additional themed imagery.
Unreal Engine’s Metahuman character’s were leveraged as our backdrop and facial expressions controlled by capturing my own gestures.
Our characters represent social & environmental themes around industrialization, deforestation, climate change, social media, and more generally impacts of capitalism and patriarchy.
